Synopsis¶
In this episode of the 40 and 20 WatchClicker Podcast, hosts Andrew and Everett discuss recent watch releases and industry trends. They cover a diverse range of watches including Louis Vuitton's surprising Monterey ceramic models, Squale's collaboration with underwater tech manufacturer Galeazzi Artiglio, and Earthen Company's impressive ceramic field watches priced under $1,000. The hosts express particular enthusiasm for Nomos's Club Sport Neomatic World Timer Dark edition, which Everett argues may be "the greatest value in horology" at $5,760.
The conversation also touches on releases from Christopher Ward, Nizumi, Formex, Citizen, and Omega. While praising many releases, they offer constructive criticism of Formex's new Airfield pilot's watch, suggesting it feels lazy compared to the brand's typically innovative offerings. The episode concludes with "other things," where Andrew discusses Andrew Zimmern's "Wild Game Kitchen" show on Netflix, and Everett enthusiastically reviews a set of mini pliers from Japanese tool manufacturer Tsunoda that he purchased through a Japanese eBay retailer.

| Everett | Go. And I will now. ha ha. That's so funny, Andrew. It's so much better. I was like, something is wrong here. It was it was ca youseurs was like like r right here. |
| Andrew | Was just in range. Yeah. So it was kinda picking |
| Everett | me up, but I was like, this isn't right. Okay. Um and then I'll mute and then I'll mute these two. Okay, I'm gonna mute these two and we're going to go live. Sorry about that. |
| Andrew | Yeah, it happens. Hello fellow watch lovers, nerds, enthusiasts, |
| Andrew | you're just not gonna fade it out again? |
| Everett | It''ss f fadadinging out out. It so good. |
| Andrew | It didn't do any fading. It's |
| Everett | I mean it's almost silent now. Is it still full blast? Well now it's silent. |
| Andrew | But there was no fade. It would just remain the same volume. |
| Everett | I faded it out. It was faded just fine. |
| Andrew | Oh boy. Let me grab another thing to crack open. I'll be right back. |
| Everett | Ha! Do you have a seltzer? Yeah. |
| Andrew | That's what I'm having. Yeah, I don't need to drink. It'll be open long enough, it'll get warm before I |
| Everett | can even keep your keep your music on, I'm gonna get some nicotine. |
| Andrew | Okay. Don't stop your recording is |
| Everett | what I meant to say. That's what I understood, |
| Andrew | yeah. And |
| Everett | yeah, it totally faded out that time by the way. |
| Andrew | Alright, well I won't mess it up this time. Yeah. |
| Everett | Just I I can I can fix it in post, so whatever happens, just roll with it. |
| Andrew | I need the cue though. I know. |
| Everett | I know. Um okay. |
| Andrew | Hello, fellow watch lovers, nerds, enthusiasts, or however you identify. You're listening to 40 and 20, the WatchClicker Podcast with your hosts Andrew and my good friend Everett. Here we talk about watches, food, drinks, life, and other things we like. Everett, how are you? |
| Everett | Andrew, I'm so good. I'm so good. Feels like this feels I have this deja vu feeling. |
| Andrew | You know, sometimes that happens from time to time, and it's weird that we are the only ones who get that deja vu experience. Um, though I would imagine that a lot of people who are sitting in their car hearing us ask each other about each other's days and weeks, they get the similar feeling of deja vu while you wax poetic on being busy and working a lot and baseball and whatever other things that uh that you do. |
| Everett | I don't have anything to say to you. I've got I've got absolutely nothing to say to you at all. Andrew, how are |
| Andrew | you? Uh I'm good. I'm enjoying fall weather. Uh you know, it was it was cold this morning when we went outside to to take the kit, or when I went outside to take the kids to school. We I guess we went outside, but uh it it was cold enough that as I I like opened the door and I was like, Ooh, I wonder if I should grab a jacket and it kinda dawned on me all at once. I was like, Oh yes, fall is in full swing. We're a couple of weeks into football season, like actual football is starting. Uh, and man, I just couldn't be happier. I love this time of year. Um, I really uh wish I could have gotten out to But you know, we'll save that for for next year. |
| Everett | And or it's chorcoat weather. |
| Andrew | It I would I would describe it as chorcoat weather. It's |
| Everett | chorcoat weather, which is one of my favorite seasons. That season's that season where you get to wear your chore coats who have been just waiting |
| Andrew | patiently in the closet, |
| Everett | their pockets just empty and sad. |
| Andrew | They're probably not empty in in all like sometimes you have sometimes you get |
| Everett | a chorecoat out and you're like, oh that's where that was. |
| Andrew | Yeah, I I typically find some Pepto tabs and coats that haven't been worn in several months. Oh, |
| Andrew | that's where that that's where that full pack |
| Everett | of Zins was. Yeah. |
| Andrew | Damn it. I knew somewhere. I usually keep good track of 'em. Like how on earth? Oh, yeah. 'Cause it I left my jacket in the truck for a year. Uh yeah, yeah, good. |
| Everett | Yeah. No, it is. it's nice. This is a nice this is a nice time of this is a nice time of year. |
| Andrew | Yeah. Um yeah. |
| Everett | I I mean I guess that's all really I have to say about that. Do you just want to go straight in, just like like raw dogging into watches? |
| Andrew | Whew. I'm not accustomed to that. Uh and to be honest, it makes me a little bit uncomfortable. Um but I guess |
| Everett | when in Rome when in Rome. Do |
| Andrew | as the Romans do. Yeah. |
| Andrew | Yeah, let's I I guess we can do it. |
| Andrew | I think the the time honored tradition. Um why don't you could have started? |
| Andrew | No, I don't ever I no, I |
| Everett | don't I that's Oh you don't terrible idea. |
| Andrew | Oh, because I came unprepared. Louis |
| Everett | Vuitton. oh, |
| Andrew | Louis Vitten. Louis Vitten. Uh |
| Everett | surely we've talked about Louis Vuitton on the show before, right? |
| Andrew | Um, I know we have because Louis Vuitton has done some interesting stuff in the watch world in the last couple of years. And it's kind of started acting like they're maybe uh they maybe give a shit about their watch division uh in in a way that some of these other luxury brands who drop watches don't |
| Everett | yeah i i mean louis vuin obviously famous for all sorts of things. I would not put watches French. I would not put watches all that high on the list of things Louis Vuitton is famous for. Clutches, maybe? |
| Andrew | Bags. Bags. Bougage. Packages, |
| Everett | boxes, and bags. Turning |
| Andrew | people into douche nozzles. Last |
| Everett | year, Louis Vuitton released a uh a revival of their Monterey, uh, which was a small hundred and eighty-eight-piece run, priced at sixty thousand a piece. And And it was I think popular. I think that is the right word. And it either was sparked by or it sparked sort of interest amongst amongst people with disposable funds in historic Louis Vuitton watches, particularly the L V1 and L V two watches. Um |
| Andrew | stands for Hard to say. |
| Everett | Almost impossible. So |
| Andrew | now Louis Vuitton has |
| Everett | introduced a set of two watches. They're calling these the Louis Vuitton Monterey ceramics. These are not part of a limited edition, which suggests these are part of a regular collection. And they are what it is, it's a 37 millimeter pebble, is what it is. And it's gorgeous. We've got skeletonized syringe hands. Um, really a study in color, which I think for a brand like Louis Vuitton was surprising to me. It was surprising to me that these watches came out as they did. So um what we have is two ceramic pebble watches, a black pebble, 37 millimeter ceramic, with a very crisp white dial with black and red accents. And then this lovely green ceramic, sort of a, I don't know, like a dark jade green. |
| Andrew | Yeah, kind of foresty. |
| Everett | With white and yellow accents. We've got skeletonized syringe hands. These are just Very cool. These are very cool. |
| Andrew | Yes. What did you think? I mean |
| Everett | when you saw these, what were you I mean, what was your like give me your like first five second reaction. |
| Andrew | Initial reaction is I love a bullhead. Uh and a three-hand bullhead is interesting to me. And the next reaction was trying to reconcile this as a Louis Vuitton watch. Because Louis Vuitton is so frequently uh in your face Louis Vuitton. Like if you have a bag that bears his name, it bears it ten thousand times all over the outside of it. Like these are brands that are known for just unabashedly covering their products with their logos. And nothing about this says that to me. This is like an interesting, very vintage looking, very subtle, simple, clean design. And that's why I say I think it like Louis Vuitton seems like they maybe give a shit about their watch division because this is a good watch. And what really got me excited about this is that it's it's expensive, okay? It's a luxury good, but it's twenty-two thousand nine hundred money, non-limited run. Uh the I don't I I'm having trouble with how much I like it. |
| Everett | Yeah. Lacquered dials on these, yeah. |
| Andrew | Uh the shape and dimensions are good. So these are the the case itself is 11 thick on that polished ceramic case, white or green lacquer, uh acrylic indices on this, 30 meters of water resistance. |
| Everett | Autom automatic in-house automatic caliber. |
| Andrew | Yeah, forty-five hours of power reserve and |
| Andrew | it's a thin movement too. It's uh five point four millimeters thick on the movement. |
| Everett | Yeah, it is not stunningly thin, but it is it's a nice |
| Andrew | fermenter. I mean come on, that's no Grand Saco can't get that shit right. And that's what they do. |
| Everett | Yeah. Uh yeah, |
| Andrew | I'm I'm perplexed by how much I like this watch. |
| Everett | Yeah, it kind of felt like a sleeper. No, I will make I I don't know if this is a correction or maybe a quibble with you you called this a bullhead. I think I would call this a twelve o'clock crown. I think a bullhead's gotta have horns like a bull. It's like a |
| Andrew | chronograph. Like with But there's |
| Everett | no chronograph, right? It's three hand with the twelve o'clock. No, it's |
| Andrew | twelve o'clock crown. Okay. yeah. Whatever. |
| Everett | That's a that's a minor quibble. Minor quibble. I really like um it's this has got two concentric circles, right? So it's got like a um I guess a minute track inside, but then also a minute track outside. I just think this is a really attractive watch. |
| Andrew | Yeah, they the I have no sort of |
| Everett | hobnail, like two hobnail rings on the crown. I this just feels to me like a really well executed now it it's a lot. Twenty two thousand nine hundred bucks, twenty three grand for this. Um, which of the green and |
| Andrew | yellow has like Joey Harrington era duck uniform vibe. |
| Everett | Ooh. You're so right. |
| Andrew | But the uh the black and white, that's where it's at for me. The orange hands with the blue second hand, the color the the orange minute track, I think just because of the light looks just slightly lighter than the orange on the hands, but I suspect that it's actually the same color. Uh really where are you seeing |
| Andrew | this orange? I'm not I'm not seeing the orange. |
| Everett | I'm not seeing it. The |
| Andrew | orange minute track the |
| Everett | Yeah, I'm not sure. |
| Andrew | On the minutes? On the green one? No, the the white one. |
| Everett | Oh, on the white one. Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I guess that's orange. I it it looks red to me, but yeah, I guess you're right. It it's for orange. Yeah. yeah. Yeah, |
| Andrew | I think I I don't know if it's sort of a |
| Everett | tomato tomato red. yeah, I'm with you. |
| Andrew | Yeah. I was looking at the green. Yeah. But then the then the the logo at the 12 o'clock is just printed Louis Vuitton Paris, Fabin Suisse, like everything is just simply stated. Like it's |
| Everett | feels more it feels more subdued than it has any right to be. Like it it they really kind of nailed a nice balance here. |
| Andrew | A and it's not just because it's Louis Vuitton. I think any any brand puts this watch out, any any print at that twelve o'clock inside the the twelve o'clock or inside that inner s concentric circle is totally fine with me. The fonts on the on the hour hands are great, like or on the hour markers are great. Like this is I'm confused. |
| Everett | Yeah, I I like it. I saw this and I was just immediately like I it was like, you know, okay. Yep. Yep. I it you know of course twenty-three grand it's like all right. Um but the I mean |
| Andrew | anybody else releases this watch for 23 grand it doesn't make sense, but Louis Vuitton does and it it does make sense. |
| Everett | Yeah. Yeah this is a good watch. |
| Andrew | Yeah, that was a good uh when you when you picked it, I was kind of surprised and then I I because just kinda scrolled past it. I saw the name and I didn't really look at the watch. And then when you sent me the link, I opened it up and I was like, ooh. |
| Everett | Yeah. Tickle me more. Yeah. One of it was one of those one of those I saw and I said, Yeah this is different this is not what I expected it's not what I would expect well what's next |
| Andrew | oh I I have a good one I have an interesting one uh so the I'll be the |
| Everett | judge of that um I |
| Andrew | think you're gonna have an opportunity to to do something that you really like to do when we talk about this watch. Uh Squala has introduced the Galeazzi Artiglio uh collaboration watch. So uh Galazi Artiglio is a famous art I think it's Artiglio because in Italian G's often go away. They they're like just a placeholder for a sound, right? Or is it Artiglio? |
| Everett | You know, I think Artiglio is right. I do think it's squale. Which will get you in trouble. Which will get you in trouble. But I think you're right on Galeazia Tilio. |
| Andrew | I can only get so many right. That two out of three in another language is I I feel pretty okay with sticking that landing uh d's get degrees my man uh so anyway this collaboration watch is between squale and guy galeazzi artilio which is a famed underwater tech manufacturer, uh Dras Galeazzi. Um, and this company was a pioneer of deep water exploration. Um Um and created a uh an underwater like a shipwreck recovery vessel in nineteen thirty-two. So uh how would you describe this blue? Because I this is something that I know you really like to do. You like to describe the blue. Um, so you're here, here's your chance. |
| Everett | Oh, good, good question. I am gonna describe this as a as like a deep indigo. |
| Andrew | I was gonna go with like Pantone two ninety-five. |
| Everett | Shh get the fuck out of here. |
| Andrew | Uh so what we have here is a very like true to style vintage dive watch, um 39 and a half millimeter case, 47 lug to lug, 13 to thick, flat sapphire crystal, at a 2824 movement, 600 meters of water resistance. Here's the the kind of a bummer with this. It's limited to 500 individually numbered pieces, but it gets cooler. So this um pretty simple, very squale feeling watch has super squale |
| Everett | feeling. Yeah what? I said super squale feeling. |
| Andrew | Yes. Like that nobody else can, you don't need to see the log It has a wet indicator at the six o'clock on the dial. So uh you know the functionality of this is if water starts to seep into the case, uh the little pad on the wet indicator changes colors so that the person underwater knows that things are getting bad for them, or at least their watch. Um and though it's not uh you know a super important uh piece of technology. It's just an interesting little uh little detail that adds a ton of depth and dynamic, like things that you're just catch your eye on this dial that's looks really fun. It could have just as easily been like a small seconds at the six o'clock. So we've got this. Um sorry, remind me of the color blue you said he thought it was. |
| Everett | I think it's I'm gonna say indigo. |
| Andrew | Okay. Uh we've got this great indigo with a color matched bezel, orange on the minute hand, silver, kind of silver gray hour hand, and then a silver gray second hand. And this is just |
| Everett | good. It's good. |
| Andrew | It's a fun, in interesting, like historically inspired design, uh made with a really interesting historical diving organ or dive technology company. Uh I think it's a great collaboration to see like |
| Everett | and we've got like two two tone loom on this too we've got we've got blue on the hands and then green on the dial and bezel markers and |
| Andrew | oh which is fun yeah yeah uh I also it it is Pantone two ninety five. That's the that's the the real name for the blue. |
| Everett | Two ninety five U, right? Yeah. Yeah. Uh it is it's nice. Uh you know, I I |
| Andrew | you want it on a bracelet? No, well, yes, |
| Everett | I do want it on a bracelet. Come on, canvas or |
| Andrew | rubber. What I was gonna say is I |
| Everett | feel like Squalate is a brand that could really like start pumping out fantastic dive watches and I think their own design language, their own historical dive dive language is holding them back. I think that I think that Squale is a company that could benefit from somebody in-house who is plugged into the watch world differently than they have been. I I uh because they're making really cool stuff, but it just feels like they're just slightly like outside of what I want. |
| Andrew | I think they're kinda like nomos. They're just doing their thing. They're comfortable doing their thing. But |
| Everett | you know what? Nomos is doing a thing that I can sell. I'm not sure like I like come in come come into it as a third-party consultant salesperson, right? I can sell gnomos. I can sell gnomos. I'm not sure that the that the sales pitch for squale is quite as clear. I mean I I |
| Andrew | the language is all there. maybe Nomos was an inappropriate uh uh parallel. |
| Everett | Yeah. I think they're just good |
| Andrew | with what they're doing. Gnomos seems like almost |
| Everett | absurdly plugged in. Like despite the f you know, we've said it on the show, right? Gnomos is doing a thing. Nobody else is doing what Gnomos is doing. Really, in watches. Nobody else. At that price, nobody. uh Squalate, I feel like is at the same price as Nomos with a watch that I'm way less interested in. You know |
| Andrew | Yeah, and and they are still using I mean they're using good at a movement. I mean a twenty eight, twenty four isn't with the elaborate grade. There's no it's nothing to sneeze at. But you know, they're not. But |
| Everett | it's not a three and a half millimeter in-house fucking made in Germany, you know. |
| Andrew | Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. they're certain certainly there. But I I like this. I think this is a cool collaboration. |
| Everett | I just I I do think Squale could I think Squale could could benefit from having somebody in the house who's like, look guys, this is what you need to do um |
| Andrew | should it should it be you are you that guy are you or is this your your audition reel for squally |
| Everett | you know I I I accept. |
| Andrew | We'll send it to him when we're done. |
| Everett | Um what do you know about what do you know about earthen Company? |
| Andrew | I know nothing about anything, typically speaking. So when it comes to a company that I I've never heard of, and I don't I'm surprised I've never heard of it, but um very little. Please enlighten me. |
| Everett | Hong Kong Company introduced last year with some interesting releases, um with a stated mission to release watches that would that would be as interesting as any watch and would cost less than a thousand dollars USD roughly. and I don't know th that's the legend here. I don't know if that's exactly what they said. but stated mission roughly to release very cool watches at or below that thousand dollar price point. Um and and so l last year they came out with a what they called this. That's |
| Andrew | like the the s like inflation rate on watch brands that launched in two thousand sixteen. |
| Everett | That's right. Like we're gonna do the coolest watches |
| Andrew | for under five hundred bucks. So they |
| Everett | came out with the Summit collection, sort of uh interesting. Everything was very interesting. We had modern ceramic and and so they've continued to sort of evolve, and now they've introduced their summit mark two. Uh their summit mark two, which is which is cool. Um still we've got ceramic. Uh still we've got really sort of digest. I'm gonna say digestible. That's the word that I think. When I see these watches, I think these are digestible watches. Uh and I don't mean like if you eat them, they're going to break down in your stomach. I just mean like I see these and I'm like, yep, I I got it. I I'll wear that. |
| Andrew | Palatable is maybe the a better word. |
| Everett | Yes. You you're maybe not wrong. I'm gonna stick with digestible just, because that's what I went with originally, and I don't want to give up on it. Um |
| Andrew | I don't think no, you're right, palatable. |
| Everett | Okay. Um and and so for the first time, we've gotten, you know, earthen's release in twenty twenty five very monochromatic. For the first time we've got color. Earthen is like, you know what? Let's give these, let's give these folks what they want, which is color. And so uh no longer just the straps colorful. That was sort of Earthen's thing. We're gonna have these very monochromatic watches with colorful straps. Now we've got the whole the whole damn thing. So we've got blue ceramics, we've got beige ceramics with orange accents. Um man, we've got green. Green, that's right. So um, these are all three watches joining the permanent collection. And as promised, these come in at 899 bucks. And I'm kind of here for it. So we've got this like uh I'm just gonna say, for me, the winner of this group is the blue on blue, blue ceramic, blue dial, um, sort of a beige chain. We've got black with this really lovely green and very white markers. And then |
| Andrew | bloomed green too. Yeah, for the blue. |
| Everett | That's the that's the one for me. yep, yep, yep. And it's a great a and and then we've got this sort of I don't know, like sort of OD desert tan thing with kind of crazy, |
| Andrew | flat, dark earthy, uh um |
| Everett | I saw these and I thought you know it's rare I think it's rare th the last time I remember feeling like this was like whoa how are they doing this? Was with Kuame Tokyo, right? When Kwame Tokyo hit the scene, I was like, How are they doing this? How are they releasing these watches? Uh I I kind of think that they've done it again, that that Earthen has done that same thing for me here with these ceramic watches, really lovely, but not audacious field dials. I'm gonna say a field to dial. Um |
| Andrew | yeah. Man, |
| Everett | I am really, really okay with these. I'm really, really okay with these. |
| Andrew | I I'm kind of excited to see what colors |
| Everett | Miyota 9039s in these, by the way. I if I say that. 100 meters of water resistance. they're 10 thick, eight point eight without the crystal |
| Andrew | Ah this I mean come |
| Everett | on how you what do you want about the company? |
| Andrew | for me is that it's a it's a pretty unknown brand. It's a it it's basically it's a brand new brand. It's under two years old. Um |
| Everett | two years year and a half. Yeah. Uh |
| Andrew | I I think that's that's the only the only hard selling point here. Everything else is money. what material are these just |
| Everett | ceramic? They're ceramic. Ceramic cases. Sapphire crystal, ceramic cases, thirty-ighte millimeters, forty-five millimeter lug to lug, ten millimeters thick, ninety thirty-nine, hundred meters of water resistance. |
| Andrew | Yeah, I don't think I mean I don't know how you how you'd actually do better. |
| Everett | I like it. the color ring, |
| Andrew | so the crown has got this split uh on the vertical axis. Uh the blue one doesn't have any any uh |
| Everett | it's like a tan is |
| Andrew | it tan yeah I think so oh but the uh the green and the brown have a have a band of color right in the middle of the crown. I think the orange accent on the brown one is like really really liking it. I hope that the loom the the the green is a loom ring on the crown. I'm with you. I'm with you. It looks like it should be. The blue one is tan. |
| Everett | It matches the it matches the markers. |
| Andrew | Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. There it is. Okay. It's hard to tell 'cause of the light and the way that that cut is in into the crown. But that makes that makes more sense. Yeah. |
| Everett | Yeah. These are good. These are interesting. And I love the fact, I mean, this could very easily be a $1,500 watch, $1,600 watch because of the I mean, just ceramic is such an exotic material and folks are just you know starting to get really comfortable with the use of ceramic in this way. Uh eight hundred ninety-nine bucks. |
| Andrew | I think this maybe is it marks that the industry has become comfortable enough manufacturing with ceramic that it can be done affordably. |
| Everett | Yeah. No, it's a good company. It's I think that's that's |
| Andrew | the turning this is the ceramic turning point. |
| Everett | Yeah. Yeah. Or evidence |
| Andrew | that that the the tide has shifted on it being exotic and now it's um you know what's that stupid metal that a couple watches were made out of recently that we talked about Dilemma is the next hot thing. Because ceramic is bored now. |
| Everett | what's next, sir? Oh. |
| Andrew | We have a Christopher Ward anniversary |
| Andrew | edition. So Christopher Ward has dropped their C1 Jump Hour 15, which is a 300-piece limited edition 15th anniversary watch, to their first in-house complication. They've made some updates to the to the the C10 that they first released. So now it's 39 millimeters. It's in a light casser light catcher case. Concentric geoche dial. Running on the JJ01 movement and a uh it's a it's a module dropped on top of a Solita uh a Solita foundation for their jump power and this comes in uh uh two colorways and and really two different design, like two different dials, it looks like. Is that what I'm am I stupid or like |
| Everett | no different dials. No, that's the update. It's just |
| Andrew | side by side. So this is the update. Much more refined. Um thinner on the on the minute track, still jumping hour at the 12 o'clock, uh running minutes, a great blued hand on your running minutes, uh 38 hours of power reserve. Um and here's here's the winner. It's $2,700 on a bracelet. Just Chris Ward doing Christopher Ward shit and dropping, you know, some high horology at really affordable prices. |
| Everett | Yeah, I mean this this is probably |
| Andrew | it's one of my least favorite Christopher Wards, but |
| Everett | That's exactly what I was just gonna say. You |
| Andrew | know, the whole artillery line or Atelier line, whatever they want to |
| Andrew | call it. Um none |
| Andrew | of those scratch my itches man i i don't care about |
| Andrew | as cool as the belcanto is i don't care as much as i love a venturine i don't care. i don't care about these |
| Andrew | like jumping hours and and most of the cool shit that Christopher Ward is doing because |
| Andrew | it just doesn't do it for me. The |
| Andrew | reason I care is because Christopher Ward is moving the ball in such a meaningful way in this really hot horology space and making things like this accessible that previously were five figures. You know, w what's the next the next most accessible jumping hour out there. |
| Everett | Well, I don't know. Last year I think there was a few seven of them. |
| Andrew | To get one that Gio style, this refined, with the magic of the light catcher case, i they're just they're doing something special. And I think this is cool that they're doing a 15th anniversary to celebrate their first in-house caliber uh with a a module that they've designed in-house to make a jumping hour. |
| Everett | Yeah. It's a good release. no doubt about it. There's nothing for me to like point to and say this is what's bad about it. It's I think it's just the part of Christoph's lineup that I'm least interested in. |
| Andrew | Yeah. This is my like I said, my least favorite Christopher Ward watch, but I still love that it exists. |
| Everett | Yeah. That's right. That's right. Um |
| Andrew | slurped me. I wanted to talk about this. Well, |
| Everett | I'll let you talk about it too. Can we both talk about it? Gnomos last year released the Club Sport Neomatic, which I think almost universally |
| Andrew | It's I think that's the name of all their watches, the Club Sport pneumatic. |
| Everett | Almost universally the whole entire world agreed this is the best nomos that's ever been released. |
| Andrew | Uh yeah, I mean it I it's |
| Everett | like uh it's like a unanimous Hall of Fame selection, right? |
| Andrew | Yeah, first first ballot. First ballot. |
| Everett | Um and you know, I think when we talked about this on release, we said, you know, I think that the only sort of like the only thing that feels is missing is like uh a a straightforward option, right? |
| Andrew | Yeah. Like we're missing just sort of like |
| Everett | a simple option. I want this like a |
| Andrew | gnomo's option. Like what's going on? |
| Everett | Um and so I don't know that they've totally fixed that. And yet I I think in some ways they have. So Gnomos this last week released what they're calling the |
| Andrew | Well they're they listen to our show and a lot of their design ideas are inspired by our |
| Everett | straight from the scratch. By our conversations. The gnomos club sport neomatic world timer. Dark. Dark. Dark. Um with upgraded and a redesigned loom with a sort of glossy bottom, you know, depth of the sea inky black dial. So here we have a sub-dial and a |
| Andrew | way you describe colors and a and |
| Everett | a world timer track that are both loomed giving this some giving this some shine some shine. Um and and a really a little bit of |
| Andrew | modernity in a like otherwise pretty vintage feeling, |
| Everett | yeah. Vintage color way. Like |
| Andrew | it it's an interesting way to add a splash of like gnomos' v |
| Everett | Yeah, that's right. Um and and otherwise this is just a uh otherwise this is just a pneumatic world timer. Uh which is to say, gosh, one of the greatest watches ever made. nine thick, forty millimeters wide. Um obviously we've got world time, we've got uh you know that single pusher at two o'clock, screw down crown, |
| Andrew | uh uh twenty hour |
| Everett | hand on the subdial at three o'clock. Sapphire 100 meters of this is la la la la la. And five thousand seven hundred and sixty bucks. In-house movement. I mean this is like this is |
| Andrew | it if someone came to me and said Everett |
| Everett | Everett I want the greatest value in horology right now. I don't care at what price, I don't care how much it costs, I don't care what it looks like. I want the |
| Andrew | stupid statement. The greatest value |
| Everett | in horology is this watch. It's this watch. Maybe the Bel Canto. The really close. I think it's this watch. |
| Andrew | I think it's a watch that is entirely handmade. The entire movement is carved by a fellow with a desk at his nose and |
| Everett | No, because that watch is going to be one hundred and fifty thousand bucks. |
| Andrew | Because you said money's not a thing. |
| Andrew | It doesn't matter. The greatest value. The greatest |
| Everett | value. The greatest val valueue.. the cost doesn't matter, but I want I want the best value. |
| Andrew | Okay. I I I don't I don't know if you're |
| Andrew | I don't have legs to stand on the bottom. |
| Everett | You could say, well, uh uh what's the uh Obama uh watch the uh |
| Andrew | F ninety one. F ninety one. I mean maybe |
| Everett | that's the best value. But it's funny, |
| Andrew | I call it the bin Laden watch. They're |
| Everett | the same. Um the the the reality is the reality is if we're talking about horological value, I don't think there's another watch that's doing quite this much in this level of package. Like I said, I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm just gonna give a nod to the Belcanto. I think a maybe a very good argument could be made there. But I can't think of anything else. Those are the only two for me. Those are the only two in the conversation. I and and frankly I think it's this one, because I just think it's a more interesting watch. It's a better watch. It's a better watch than the Bel Canto. |
| Andrew | Uh you know my favorite part about this dial? |
| Andrew | This three o'clock 24 hour subdial doesn't cut out the markers. |
| Andrew | It looks almost like the markers are |
| Andrew | floating above it, but they're actually just applied over that subdial. |
| Everett | It's fantastic. Uh and it |
| Andrew | takes a minute to recognize what's happening, but it adds a really interesting depth without sacrificing any millimeters in dimensions. I'm with |
| Everett | you a hundred percent on this, Andrew. |
| Andrew | I I've been staring at it and it finally clicked what I was seeing. I was like, oh, there it is. That's what I love. Because so often you see these subtitles cut out markers. Uh or they do something weird. Um no, I I don't like I don't think you're wrong about this being one of, if not the best, but I think best values in watches, but I think that kind of goes for most of the gnomos collection because they're they're in the w they're in the conversation as affordable watches and they're doing it all in-house in a way that nobody else is doing under five figures. |
| Everett | Yeah. Yeah, that's right. |
| Andrew | Yemma's maybe like maybe there but not in the same way. |
| Everett | Yeah. Yeah. Not in the same way. yeah. I mean that's |
| Andrew | fantastic. Yama is a very immature |
| Everett | version of Gnomos, right? Like Normos Gnomos was born in a tuxedo collecting social security. |
| Andrew | Yeah. Him |
| Andrew | and the Monopoly guy and Mr. Peanut hung |
| Andrew | out like uh Yeah, |
| Andrew | this is this is fantastic. And the the dark w was exactly what this collection needed. This is one of those watches that you look at. It's kind of like for me, it has sort of the same effect as like the um |
| Andrew | the Zen 903. Like just |
| Andrew | the more you look at it, you're like, God, I think I I think I need |
| Everett | this. This isn't like a, this |
| Andrew | isn't a want, this isn't a desire. Like this is a a required piece of my life that I'm um I'm currently missing and |
| Andrew | and need it need it yeah |
| Andrew | to be whole yeah yeah yeah I'm |
| Everett | with you a hundred percent what's next |
| Andrew | oh gosh I, wasn't prepared for this. I'm still uh uh I'm |
| Everett | gonna make you go anyway. You're |
| Andrew | like you're just just powering through. Oh, I want to talk about Nizumi, a brand that we haven't talked about in a while, and a brand |
| Andrew | that I've always really, really loved. And |
| Andrew | I've I've loved them for several reasons. |
| Andrew | One is they make really well-specked affordable watches just every time. They're vintage inspired, they're play with colors is fantastic. Um, this is like some designers who figured out how to make watches and do it well and design watches, right? It's not like watch designers, it's just like actual designers who figured out how to do something cool |
| Andrew | rather than like draw pictures like |
| Andrew | weirdos. Loki Nazumi like |
| Everett | goes back to like the earliest days of 40 and 20. You |
| Andrew | know, so does Nomos, like first 10 episodes guaranteed they'll both these brands are |
| Everett | sure. This is one of those brands that was like right at the four we were like, Whoa, that is cool. |
| Andrew | Mm-hmm. That whoa whoa. I still look at the |
| Andrew | Baleen pretty regularly and I'm like, man, I think I just need to get one already. |
| Everett | Yeah. Yeah. Because I love that dive |
| Andrew | watch. Um, but it it it does all the things that I love in in a watch brand. it's a very um It's modern interpretations of vintage designs, and this has all of that. This has very uh vintage inspired colorways with a very 60s, 70s design aesthetic. So the vouture VM2 uh racing chronograph um there was a VM one that was previously using mecha |
| Andrew | quartz. I don't remember what mecha quartz me what they were using. I I |
| Andrew | I'd guess the VK64 because that's what everyone uses. |
| Andrew | Yeah. But |
| Andrew | now pardon me. |
| Everett | What were those noises that you made? Uh |
| Andrew | they were farts. Oh okay. Yeah. But from my mouth. Uh it's a weird way to do it, but it's how I like it. Mouth parts. Um, I lost my |
| Andrew | train of thought. Okay, so uh what |
| Andrew | we have here is a 40 millimeter case, 47 |
| Andrew | lug-to-lug, 12.9 thick, |
| Andrew | with the crystal. It's only 1111 millimeters thick sands crystal |
| Andrew | using the peacock sl 4801 |
| Andrew | automatic chronograph movement with manual winding, hacking, 55-hour power reserve, 50 meters of water resistance. Just a no bullshit, great chronograph, and the colors on these are just fun. There's two colorways available: um, there's a black, gray, and orange, and a black gray and white. The black gray and white is fine. Yeah, I think it's great. I think it's |
| Everett | great. Oh |
| Andrew | man, this the the black gray and orange accents. So what we have here is kind of like a surfboard uh orientation of the of the tri compacts, but the colorway kind of surfboardy with cuts into it. |
| Unknown | Yeah. Very modern. Like I don't I don't |
| Andrew | know. It's like a very modern design |
| Andrew | feeling dial that feels out of the 70s. Uh, right? Like you could see this watch on any sitcom in the 1970s and be like, oh yeah, that fits. That makes perfect sense. Um great pushage on this. You know, the cases uh have just like this gentle twist on the lugs that are just fantastic. Uh I can't say enough good things about this watch until we get to |
| Andrew | how much it costs and Nizumi |
| Andrew | staying Nazumi staying in this affordable world. Uh 902 Euros excluding VAT on a bracelet. |
| Everett | How do they do that? How do they know? |
| Andrew | We're I'm like we're really hitting on these |
| Andrew | classic affordables that we uh that we really cut our teeth on and and Nazumi's still doing it. You know, eight years since we started talking about them on the show, they're still doing the thing in a meaningful way. This is fantastic. I love this watch. |
| Everett | No, this is uh this is a fantastic release. This Nizumi um Is a player, man. They're a player. You know, this this watch has always been a mega court, which I you know, unfairly or not, allows us to sort of disregard it. Well, no longer. Mm-hmm. No longer shall we disregard this watch. |
| Andrew | This is this is in the best chronograph in my in my conversation list. This has just entered into the best chronographs at or about $1,000. |
| Andrew | Really attractive, really well, |
| Everett | really well spec'd. Yeah, you know, I don't actually know a lot about this peacock movement, but I'm feeling I'm feeling so confident that it's good that i'm like just buy this watch just buy this watch someone needs to buy this watch |
| Andrew | and send it to us yeah you don't have to give it to us so we'll we'll maybe give it back. |
| Everett | What's the deal? What's the one that that that grease back? Go ahead. Sorry. |
| Andrew | But the the bulk with the orange is is just it's scratching. It's getting that itch right in the middle of your back that you kind of have to like lean against the wall to s to stretch your arm to reach it. You know that spot. The bear in the |
| Everett | forest. The bear in the forest itch. |
| Andrew | Yeah that's uh it's that's scratching that itch for me. This |
| Everett | case back is crazy. God |
| Andrew | dang. This is a good watch. |
| Everett | This is a good watch. This is a good find too. I this is at escaped my notice. well done, Andrew. |
| Andrew | They they're usually on my radar. |
| Andrew | Sniff them out. |
| Everett | Uh Formex? |
| Andrew | Oh. Formex, |
| Everett | which is not a prophylactic brand, come to find out. Rather, it is a watch brand. A watch brand that is near and dear to my |
| Andrew | prophylactic in that you spend |
| Andrew | all of your money on watches and she's not interested. Near and |
| Andrew | dear to my heart, um |
| Everett | I I'm not gonna bury the lead. This watch is I'm not gonna call it a miss because they didn't miss anything. But it is a little weird to me. Right? I'm just gonna not gonna bury the lead. This is a weird release. So Formex has released a Field watch. And in doing so, they have made a few changes. They have made a few changes. Notably, the counterbalance on the second hand is now an airplane and it's become a pilot's watch. So is it because |
| Andrew | of the airplane? What just |
| Andrew | happened? I think |
| Everett | what happened is exactly what we think happened. I think that formex released a pilot's watch, which is effectively a field watch, except that it's got an airplane on the counterbalance for the second hand. And we've got and we've got updated, we've got sword hands. We've got sword hands also. Um, and they're calling it the airfield. Look, I I love, I, I love Formex. I I unapologetically love Formex. The Essence is I mean, personally owner of the Essence, one of my favorite watches. I wear that thing. and you will not convince me that it's not one of the greatest watches that's been released in the last 10 years, 15 years. |
| Andrew | I I think it's one of the best watch releases of the decade. |
| Everett | It is one of my very favorite watches on earth. I am not a four-mx hater, but this watch is so absurd to me. I don't understand what we're doing here. |
| Andrew | I think Formex doesn't understand what they're doing here. |
| Andrew | Because Formex has been historically this brand that's on the cutting edge, like the very bleeding edge that it gets filed off in the next sharpening of pushing the envelope of technology and of seeing how much technology they can represent in their releases and how cool it can be. This I like this |
| Andrew | w this case. Uh |
| Andrew | it's a familiar Formex designed case. Um |
| Andrew | and that concludes the things that I like about |
| Andrew | this watch as a form X. |
| Everett | So we've got I think another brand |
| Andrew | drops this watch. I'm probably okay with it. But this is so |
| Everett | far. That's right. But this is |
| Andrew | so much so far out of their identity, right? this |
| Andrew | feels like a a Braymont release, right? It's just it doesn't make sense with respect to the rest of their |
| Andrew | catalogue. A hundred Andrew, |
| Everett | that's so funny that you said that. I I saw this and I was like, this feels like a Brayman release. So this is the titanium field automatic architecture that you're very familiar with. Um and and again, we've made a few very subtle changes and we're calling this a possible i in a vacuum, there's I think maybe nothing wrong with this. |
| Andrew | Nope. Slender watch, we're |
| Everett | 10 and a half thick. We've got good water resistance. I mean, it's gonna be a fucking banger. This watch is gonna be a banger. It just to me, it's like let's make a pilot watch and to convince everyone it's a pilot watch we'll make the counterbalance of the second hand an airplane. |
| Andrew | it feels lazy. It feels like a Hamilton release, right? |
| Everett | Where Hamilton's like, oh, we' gdotta do another special |
| Andrew | edition. Uh let's just change the strap color and do a new case back. |
| Everett | Price is right on this. Leather for twelve hundred, uh, nylon for ten sixty. I mean, there's nothing wrong. In a vacuum, this is a great watch. I I I do think that For Max can and sh uh do I say should? Maybe should I think that's a good better here. Uh this |
| Andrew | feels lazy. Yeah. And |
| Everett | again, love these guys. Like uh uh have I've I've eaten pizza with these guys |
| Andrew | very drunk envelope with an unknown amount of money in it. |
| Everett | at 2 3 in0 the morning and like these are friends. And so it's hard to criticize friends like this, but I don't this is not the most exciting watch release of the year for me, by the way. |
| Andrew | I I really like the black on brown leather. But it's because I |
| Andrew | like this case and I like that I like the black dial. But as you |
| Andrew | dig into it, like I just I don't |
| Andrew | understand the plain counterbalance. I don't understand like |
| Andrew | Again in, a vacuum, great watch, right? |
| Everett | Great watch in a vacuum. Yeah. |
| Andrew | Like make this a type B and |
| Andrew | and you're good, right? Like don't |
| Andrew | don't just drop an airplane on it, right? And I have |
| Andrew | nothing, I have no problems with airplane counterbalances. |
| Andrew | The Nighthawk is one of my favorite watches of all time. |
| Everett | Yeah. It's not the airplane. It's |
| Andrew | that the the airplane is what made this the pilot's watch. And that's not that's not that. |
| Everett | Yeah. uh I I think if you saw this watch and you're like, I like that watch, you should get this watch and it's gonna be a great watch. This is a great watch. |
| Andrew | You're not wrong to like it. I just |
| Everett | want them, I just want more. |
| Andrew | I think we've come to expect more. I think because of Formex's hard-hitting success up to this point, we've come to accept more. So when they give us what anybody else would give us and we'd call a slam dunk, it's not like we're not impressed because we know they can do better and because they have done so much better |
| Unknown | correct co correct |
| Everett | correct Do you want to go? |
| Andrew | Do I need to take a break? Is that what you're saying? I can take a little breather. |
| Everett | Just keep going. Just keep going. What do you got? |
| Andrew | I don't have anything that's interesting anymore. I'm just heartbroken. |
| Everett | Do you have any so no I do I do |
| Andrew | have another thing? Okay, go. Not another thing. I |
| Andrew | I obviously have one of those. Uh but I the next watch I want to talk |
| Andrew | about. Um Citizen is really po pouring into the Soyosa very much in the way we saw |
| Andrew | TISA with the PRX and |
| Andrew | I think it's because of how much ass Tissot put into the PRX, Citizen is putting similar amounts of ass into the Soyosa, and they have just upgraded the 37mm case to their 60 hour power |
| Andrew | reserve movement. I think that's really cool. |
| Andrew | The colors are um exactly what you'd expect at a citizen. We have a black with a uh stamped guillosh, a uh mint ice cream colored green. Uh and then a white with uh a a gold excuse me, a gold case bracelet hands uh on a white dial that looks almost like there's maybe some gold accents in that Guiosh. Um but yeah they've brought their 60R power reserve into the 37mm. Uh I I like this watch at 37 a lot and I think upgrading the movement is is obviously the right choice. If you have it available to you, definitely do the thing. Um I like |
| Andrew | it. I think it's a good upgrade. It's an exciting |
| Andrew | upgrade. I like seeing citizen do things that make sense when so often they're doing things that just don't. |
| Everett | And Omega released seven new references of a redesigned 38mm Speedmaster. |
| Andrew | Uh but I really like the |
| Andrew | new 38mm Speedmaster. |
| Unknown | That's the I didn't like the the previous |
| Andrew | one. Uh this is more this is almost this is true to the the true size speedmaster, the forty one or whatever it is. Yeah it doesn't there's no delineation now in design between the two. It's just scaled down. Which is how it should have always been. |
| Everett | Yeah, that's right. Yeah, we've gotten rid of the oval subdials and we've got a lot of |
| Andrew | rectified the error. Yeah, we've got a Speedmaster. |
| Everett | Um and I think they started like sixty seven hundred bucks for the for the Blackverse. |
| Andrew | So wild. Five years ago, eh, maybe not |
| Andrew | five. Uh at pre 2020 |
| Andrew | you're into a uh speedmaster for five grand. |
| Everett | Yeah. Maybe used. Another |
| Andrew | what's that? Maybe used, yeah. Yeah, but I mean you're you're not getting |
| Andrew | into a used Speedmaster in good condition, |
| Andrew | like you your kit,'re not getting into that for |
| Andrew | under nine these days. Is that right? |
| Everett | Yeah, I think I want to say I paid like forty three hundred, forty four hundred for mine. I |
| Andrew | know basically hit by a car. |
| Andrew | So I guess he paid you know in blood. Um Yeah, I like |
| Andrew | these. I've always I've always liked the Speedmaster reduced because it it just |
| Andrew | feels better on the wrist. |
| Andrew | Um and I'd actually now that um have I've started having a little bit of a fling with the Speedmaster would kind of like to try on side by side |
| Andrew | especially now that there's an updated |
| Andrew | uh design on it. I think that could be the maybe the the trigger to |
| Andrew | get a reduced. Because the r every time I've |
| Andrew | worn a reduced, it just feels better. Andrew, |
| Everett | other things, what do you got? Oh we're going |
| Andrew | to that. I guess we are, yeah. Uh okay. Um hang on. I'm closing links. |
| Everett | Close them links. Um, |
| Andrew | I started a new show. Um I was scrolling Netflix tiles this week, and I saw Andrew Zimmern uh with a tile that said Wild Game Kitchen. And I thought that was interesting. Cause um I didn't realize Andrew Zimmern was like a outdoorsman. Right? I've always thought of him as like a fine dining food network type dude. Uh turns out that's not the case. So it prompted me to do |
| Andrew | like some background understand like research on Andrew Zimmern |
| Andrew | and see where he came from. And dudes, dudes |
| Andrew | had a ride. Uh like fell into the pit of of drug and alcohol addiction and was homeless, and then started cooking at his homeless shelter where he lived, and then got a break at a restaurant, and then just kind of meteor media uh meteoric rise from there. That's a good |
| Everett | idea. Meteoric is |
| Andrew | an avid outdoorsman and hunter and Fisher. So the show that he has on the outdoor |
| Andrew | channel of all things, uh, which blew me away and is now featured on Netflix. I think there's I don't remember how many episodes, is |
| Andrew | him cooking on a live |
| Andrew | fire outdoor grill, just things that are delicious. Uh in like |
| Andrew | with his fine dining experience and |
| Andrew | background, but doing it in a really accessible way, that you're like, oh, I could I could do that and |
| Andrew | it wouldn't be that hard now the grill |
| Andrew | that he's using I had to |
| Andrew | look it up it's from a company called uh fuegas |
| Everett | fuegas. f I think it's Fuegas. |
| Andrew | F U G Fuegas. |
| Everett | I accept. Uh Brazilian |
| Andrew | or Argentinian grill. Yeah, they're like 10 grand. Um uh doesn't matter. |
| Andrew | Uh but it's this like beautiful grill |
| Andrew | to watch him working on uh and he's making just fantastic looking food. It's fun. |
| Andrew | they're short episodes because it's outdoor channel. So it's |
| Andrew | like 22-minute episodes of him |
| Andrew | just cooking some of the best looking |
| Andrew | food. Uh and I didn't realize how much I loved Andrew Zimmern because I always like I remember him from Bizarre Foods or Bizarre Eats or whatever. Um I |
| Andrew | Googled when did Andrew Zimmern get cool? |
| Andrew | Uh and apparently he's just always been this way. Uh he just was, you know, neck deep in his weird food show. Um, |
| Andrew | but it's fantastic. the recipes are really |
| Andrew | accessible. He uses a lot of |
| Andrew | wild game, uh, but then also a lot of |
| Andrew | things that are really accessible that you could go to the |
| Andrew | grocery store today and recreate these recipes even without using a live |
| Andrew | fire grill. Like you could do it stovetop |
| Andrew | and make a lot of these things that are delicious. He did a whole pa or a whole cow's head for tacos. Oh. |
| Everett | Showed like how to break down a a whole cow nugget. |
| Andrew | Um bunch of different like just it's a cooking show, right? So it's all recipes. It's right, but they're all they're all simple and accessible and they're just it's taking some of the fear out of doing some of these bigger |
| Andrew | uh bigger |
| Andrew | projects. I |
| Everett | like it. I love it. It's kids |
| Andrew | love watching it with me because he's cooking outside over a fire |
| Andrew | and looks |
| Andrew | delicious. Uh |
| Everett | and I want some of that meat. |
| Andrew | I do too. Yeah. Maybe not any Zimmer meat specific |
| Everett | Yeah. Whatever. Yeah. Uh I got another thing. |
| Andrew | Doomy. I |
| Everett | um yeah. uh |
| Andrew | have you have we talked about the |
| Everett | Japanese brand Sunoda on the show at all? |
| Andrew | Um maybe. T S U |
| Andrew | N O D A. Yeah. Tsunoda. |
| Everett | Not Yuki Sunoda, not the the Formula |
| Andrew | One driver, the uh tool |
| Andrew | brand? The tool brand. Sunoda Japan. |
| Everett | So Tsunoda is a Japanese brand of it's a tool brand, but they make in particular um they make pliers very, very good pliers. As far as pliers go, they're very well finished, they've got good actions. I mean these, are I would say these are comparable to um when we talk about pliers, you know, like the very nicest sort of Klein or perhaps channel locks right up there with brands like Kinepegs. So Sunoda makes pliers. They made it. Uh better. Certainly better. So anyway, I was I I don't know exactly what prompted this, but I have a drawer. I have a toolbox drawer. And I said, in this drawer, I need to have some mini I'm a mini plier set. And so I uh uh I went looking, I went looking for a mini plier set. Was it as |
| Andrew | you you filled your I'm imagining this happening in real time? |
| Everett | Yes. You assemble your your toolbox, |
| Andrew | you move all of your tools into their respective places, and then you have a drawer that was unoccupied. And |
| Andrew | you're like, well, man, what do I put in here? Not |
| Everett | entirely unoccupied. it and you're you're not wrong that that's more or less what happened, but but imagine this happening over the course of like months as opposed to just like an afternoon, right? |
| Andrew | yeah. Um but yeah, |
| Everett | no that that's right. I had I I was like this drawer, this drawer here, based on like what this drawer is in my tool it needs some mini players. I need mini players in here. And I didn't really know what I was looking for. I I really wanted a set of small needle nose. But I thought, you know, it would be fun to have like a set. And I kind of started to look and I I didn't really find anything I liked. And then eventually I got clued into a set. It's not a set. And they don't sell them as a set. And that's part of what made this difficult. But I got clued into three pliers being sold by Sunoda that are all matchy matchy. I'm gonna call these matchy matchy, Andrew, which is to say these are all roughly 100 millimeters, nay four inch, just just short of four inch flyers. |
| Andrew | I like measuring things in millimeters. 100 millimeters |
| Andrew | sounds way better than four inches. |
| Everett | A hundred millim a hundred millimeters and I got a um so this set this set that I've had to create uh which is not available in the United States by the way, I am going to provide Andrew with links to eBay because that's the best way to get these. Um, we've got a pair of diagonal cutters, we've got a pair of combination pliers, like side-cutting combination pliers, and then we've got a pair of needle nose pliers. Each of these in this same hundred millimeter format. And it, you know, I thought I I I've played with small like jewelry pliers or whatever. Like I've had small handles. blue |
| Andrew | handle, yellow hand handlele, green. These are |
| Everett | all these are all blue handles. Um and I got these in and I was just blown away. I was like, these are the nicest things I think I own. They're just I just love them. And I don't really have a good use for them, Andrew. I'm gonna admit that. I'm gonna sneeze. |
| Andrew | I was uh I had my dead blow |
| Andrew | hammer and uh one of these I was banging |
| Andrew | on the handles of these trying to release something the other day. |
| Everett | Of these these mini blowers. |
| Andrew | Yeah. They just seemed appropriate for the task. |
| Everett | Andrew came over the other day and said, Do you have tools? And I was like, Oh yeah. |
| Andrew | Yeah. There was more of that, but |
| Andrew | uh yeah, whatever. Um |
| Everett | yeah. Uh they're great. These are just it and you know what? I think for the full set, so you know these come from Japan, so you're gonna have to pay some shipping. But I got all of mine on a Japanese eBay retailer, Ninja Tools, Japan. I bought a lot of tools from Ninja Ninja Tools Japan. It is probably up there with top two or three Japanese specific eBay eBay retailers. Um and if |
| Andrew | do they sell also like ninja weapons and stuff? |
| Everett | Uh I you know I they maybe do. I don't think so though. Um But the nice thing is, so each of these is like 15 bucks plus $20 shipping. However, if you if you message them, there's a combined shipping option, you can say, hey, I'm buying all three of these things. They will refund you the shipping for two of 'em. So basically you just pay |
| Andrew | Oh. You just pay the one shipping. |
| Everett | So um w that to say, I got these all for like sixty bucks. And they're Are |
| Andrew | these are they like a a secondary retailer? |
| Andrew | Like they just buy shit from the hardware store and then sell it. Like they buy it at wholesale |
| Andrew | and sell it on eBay. That's right. Yeah, that's |
| Everett | exactly right. That's exactly right. Side hustle. |
| Andrew | So they're making great money because they're probably just they're |
| Andrew | just drop shipping it. That's right. JDM tools |
| Everett | straight from Japan. Um and if you go through, I mean they've got so this says they've got six thousand five hundred and six six oh no. How many items do they have? They've I mean it's a bucket load. It they've got uh a bucket nine thousand nine thousand seven hundred and seventeen items and and it's like ninety percent JDM stuff. And you go through here, I mean if you just click sellers other items, it's all of these like JDM, can't get them, Mary, um Sunoda, uh Three Peaks, Fujia, Engineer, um, Lobster, all these brands that are huge in Japan that you just cannot get. And it, you know, it depending if you know what you want, you can get like four or five items, pay the one shipping fee. Uh it's awesome. It it's awesome. Yeah. and Makita's JDM stuff is actually kind of rad. But uh yeah, these are really cool. They're tiny little pliers. That's what my other thing for the week is tiny little pliers. |
| Andrew | Oh, okay. Good to know. They have Kinnepex on here too. |
| Everett | They do? I think that there is JDM Kinepex stuff. |
| Andrew | Huh. Yeah. |
| Everett | Yeah. I'm just gonna link to their eBay |
| Andrew | store. Perfect. I'm not gonna link to your pliers |
| Andrew | and cares about your pliers. Boo. |
| Everett | Alright, well if you want to know the pliers, message me. |
| Andrew | I'm not seeing any ninja weapons. I haven't seen a throwing star or I think |
| Everett | they sell tools. Those are |
| Andrew | the tools of a ninja. I don't know what you want from me here, but no smoke grenades. |
